چکیده

This paper deals with the system-level performance analysis and optimization of a class of digital systems we call mixed asynchronous-synchronous systems. In such a system, each computation module is either synchronous or asynchronous. The communication between all the modules is assumed to be data-driven. In order to adequately describe the timing of such architectures, we introduce a graph model called MASS which is based on several extensions of timed marked graphs. The rst extension is that the node set V is partitioned into synchronous and asynchronous nodes. A synchronous node can only re at ticks of its local module clock. Based on these extensions, we analyze the behavior of MASS, in particular period, periodicity and maximal throughput rate. Finally, we introduce the optimization problem of assigning appropriate clock phases to synchronous nodes so to maximize the throughput rate of the resulting system. An exact solution as well as a polynomial time algorithm for nearly optimal phase assignment are presented.

We introduce a graph model called MASS for describing the timing behaviour of such ...

Asynchronous and Synchronous Dispersals in Spatially Discrete Population Models

This study is on the role of synchronous and asynchronous dispersals in a discrete-time single-species population model with dispersal between two patches, where predispersal dynamics are compensatory or overcompensatory and dispersal is synchronous or asynchronous or mixed synchronous and asynchronous. It is known that single-species dispersal-linked population models behave as singlespecies s...

Robust Control of Power System Stabilizer Using World Cup Optimization Algorithm

In this paper, we propose a new optimized PID controller to stabilize the synchronous machine connected to an infinite bus. The model for the synchronous machine is 4-ordered linear Philips-Heffron synchronous machine. In this research, the parameters of the PID controller are optimally achieved by minimizing a definite fitness function to removes the unstable Eigen-value to the left side of im...

Elasticity and Petri Nets

Digital electronic systems typically use synchronous clocks and primarily assume fixed duration of their operations to simplify the design process. Time elastic systems can be constructed either by replacing the clock with communication handshakes (asynchronous version) or by augmenting the clock with a synchronous version of a handshake (synchronous version). Time elastic systems can tolerate ...
